What is DLSS? NVIDIA AI Upscaling Explained Simply

GlossaryGaming › DLSS

What is DLSS?

DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling) is NVIDIA’s AI-powered upscaling — the game renders at a lower resolution, and AI reconstructs it to look near-native, boosting FPS by 40–100%.

Why it matters

DLSS lets a mid-range GPU perform like a higher-tier one. An RTX 3060 Ti with DLSS enabled can handle games that would otherwise need an RTX 3080. Newer generations (DLSS 3/4 on RTX 40 and 50 series cards) even add AI-generated frames for further gains.

Which cards support it?

All RTX cards support DLSS — that includes every RTX build we sell, from the RTX 2060 to the RTX 5070. AMD’s equivalent is called FSR, which works on cards like the RX 6600 XT and RX 7800 XT.
